Dunlop will be a Gold Partner of the Next Gen ATP Finals, commencing immediately. The multi-year partnership will see Dunlop provide the official ball for the tournament, as well as receiving a number of promotional rights for the innovative event.

The 2018 Next Gen ATP Finals take place in Milan from November 6-10, with the world’s top 21 and under tennis players to compete using the Dunlop Fort All Court Tournament Select ball.

The partnership adds to Dunlop’s recent official ball partner agreement with the Australian Open as well as existing partnerships with high-profile events on the tennis calendar. Supporting these events, the Next Gen ATP Finals provides Dunlop with the platform to focus on one of its key objectives of targeting and engaging with younger tennis fans to develop their love of the game and ultimately grow participation of the sport globally.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with the Next Gen ATP Finals, an event that is taking tennis to new audiences,” said Kiyoshi Ikawa, Head of Product Planning & Promotion for SRI. “The passion for innovation fits perfectly with our brand values and provides a great opportunity for us to engage with younger tennis fans and consumers. The ATP understands the need to make the game more appealing to new fans and we’re really excited to be a part of it in the upcoming years.”

Now in its second year, the Next Gen ATP Finals has been praised for the introduction of several innovative rules to raise the tempo of matches. Unique to the event, it features first to four game sets, shorter warm-ups, shot clock, a no-let rule and Hawk-Eye Live which removes the need for line judges. The inaugural event in 2017 was won by South Korean Chung Hyeon, who enjoyed a breakthrough 2018, reaching the semi-finals of the Australian Open and registering wins over Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev.

“We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Dunlop because we believe they provide the best ball on the professional tennis circuit,” said Sergio Palmieri, Tournament Director Next Gen ATP Finals 2018. “To demonstrate how much we appreciate the quality of the Dunlop ball, in addition to the Next Gen ATP Finals, we have also finalized a multi-year extension for the ATP Masters 1000 Rome – BNL Internazionali D’Italia.”

As a Gold Partner, Dunlop will have strong branding presence with its logo present across the in-stadium branding in Milan and Dunlop-branded ball coolers on court. Directly engaging with spectators, Dunlop has a brand activation and promotional area at the event.

Change of tempo, net attack, change of topspin and slice – no matter if during the training game or tournament: In tennis, your joints score points with each turn. Because with every movement, high loads and forces on your knee and ankle joints. These are caused by the explosive and fast moves, in which you stop and abruptly accelerate again and again. Add to that the striking movements and the impact of tight balls. That in turn puts extreme strain on your wrists. So that you can get the best performance on the tennis court for a long time and train without any problems, a strong joint protection against overloading is important. Already during the tennis match, the strong products of the Bauerfeind Sports Supports Line help to relieve your joints. The targeted pressure also improves the movement control in the knees and wrists. At the same time, the hard-wearing bandages massage the ligaments, tendons, muscles and connective tissue in each of your movements, which has a positive effect on your sensorimotor function. Especially with longer game units you will feel the relief effect quickly, because the intense depth perception sends you direct feedback. This in turn counteracts stress and prevents injuries in fast, jerky movements and fatigue.

It is not without reason that racing cyclists from the great cycling races have been relying on compression products for years. The racing professionals wear the helpers during training as well as during and after the competition. So that you can sit back in the saddle faster and enjoy uncompromising exits to the fullest, the sports bandages of the Sports Compression Line support muscle recovery.

Multi-year partnership to begin at opening Grand Slam of 2019

August 26, 2018 – (New York, USA) Dunlop will be the official ball partner of the Australian Open in January 2019. The multi-year partnership will see Dunlop provide the official ball for the Australian Open and granted the rights to sell Australian Open branded tennis balls globally.

Dunlop was chosen by Tennis Australia due to its strong reputation for quality on the tour and as a partner perfectly positioned to give the Australian Open greater exposure throughout Asia and the world. The partnership is Dunlop’s first with the Grand Slam and showcases its ambitions for the Australian market following the announcement of an ambassador deal with tennis icon Rod Laver.

Dunlop has existing official ball partnerships with other high-profile events on the tennis calendar, with the Australian Open deal further strengthening its reputation.

“The new partnership with the Australian Open and Tennis Australia represents a landmark moment for Dunlop,” said Kiyoshi Ikawa, Head of Product Planning & Promotion for SRI. “Partnering with a Grand Slam gives us an opportunity to reach new audiences and reaffirms the dedication we have to producing tennis products of the highest standards.

“Tour players often refer to the Dunlop balls as being the best on tour and we’ve worked tirelessly throughout a detailed development process with Tennis Australia. Specifications of the ball have been tested by current and ex-players, Tennis Australia members and coaches to ensure we deliver the perfect ball for what’s regarded as the most popular Grand Slam of the year among the players.”

The official Dunlop Australian Open ball uses the finest natural rubber, combined with Dunlop’s secret recipe of components and premium woven cloth, to create an ultra-consistent ball for high performance play.

“We are delighted to partner with Dunlop on the new Australian Open ball,” Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley said.

“Our aim is to provide the players with the best possible playing environment and we believe they will be very happy with the quality, standard and consistency of play of the new AO Dunlop ball in a wide variety of conditions.

“We’ve worked closely with Dunlop for some time and are impressed with their quality control at every stage, from design right through to the manufacturing process. Many of our current and former players have also put the new ball through its paces, both in Australia and around the world, and this process will be ongoing to ensure there’s consistency of play in a variety of conditions.

“We welcome Dunlop to the Australian tennis family and look forward to a fantastic partnership which extends across all levels of the sport.”

Dunlop will not only provide the official ball for the Australian Open and Australian Open Summer of Tennis events, but also have a strong branding presence with in-stadium branding and animations on the digital walls in Rod Laver Arena, as well as an engaging brand activation area in the heart of the event. Fans attending the AO will also be able to purchase the AO Dunlop tournament and jumbo balls throughout the venue.

Dunlop will also be an official Tennis Australia partner supporting grassroots tennis and programs in Australia including the key pathway programs ANZ Tennis Hot Shots with the Dunlop low compression balls.

11-time Grand Slam winner used Dunlop tennis rackets throughout his career

Dunlop has announced that legendary tennis star Rod Laver will return to the brand as an international ambassador. Laver, who remains the only player to win THE Grand Slam twice at four Majors in the same year, used Dunlop rackets throughout his career.

The appointment comes at a significant time for Dunlop, who will become the official ball partner for the Australian Open from January 2019. Laver will feature in promotional content ahead of the Australian Open as well as supporting Dunlop’s presence at the year-opening Grand Slam, where the main stadium court is named in his honour.

“Dunlop and the Australian Open are two things synonymous with my tennis career and it’s the perfect time to be returning as an ambassador for Dunlop to support their new partnership,” said Laver. “The Australian Open always proves to be a great spectacle and with the players being able to play with the best tennis balls available, it can only enhance the quality of matches that we see. I’m looking forward to the 2019 tournament and seeing the amazing fans that flock to Melbourne Park year in, year out.”

Laver added: “The technology has been revolutionised since my playing days, but one thing that has remained the same is the passionate competitive spirit with which all people all over the world are able to love the game. Dunlop played an integral part in my career and I’m delighted to be partnering with them once again as they relaunch themselves in the world of tennis.”

“We’re delighted to be working with Rod, who is regarded by many as the greatest tennis player of all time,” said Kiyoshi Ikawa, Head of Product Planning & Promotion for SRI. “Rod’s success is iconic in the history of Dunlop and the chance to work with him again at such an exciting time for Dunlop is an unmissable opportunity, especially given that he is synonymous with the Australian Open. Rod is highly respected by today’s tour players and we’re looking forward to working with him in the coming year.”

Laver’s affiliation with Dunlop goes back to when he was 16 years old, where his first paid job was with the brand selling rackets and playing demonstration matches in outback Queensland, Australia. When his career began, Dunlop came on board as his first major sponsor and the pair remained together throughout his 22-year playing career, with Laver winning over 200 singles titles using Dunlop products.

Laver used the wooden Dunlop Maxply racket throughout his career, helping steer him win THE Grand Slam twice in 1962 and 1969. The first generation of the racket was launched in 1932 and remained in production for over 50 years.
