The Aussie young gun is not going anywhere and he roars as he breaks back in the second set!

It was a brilliant point from Popyrin on break point, he controlled it all the way and forced the error from Auger-Aliassme.

FAA leads 4-3 in the second set but Popyrin now is back on serve.

Meanwhile, at the United Cup in Perth, Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck leads Greece’s Despina Papamichail 4-1 in the all-important third set.

Italy’s Martina Trevisan has defeated Noway’s Malene Helgo in a three-set thriller at Pat Rafter Arena.

Taking three hours and two minutes, Trevisan remained relentless to win 7-5 3-6 6-4.

With the victory, Italy take a 1-0 lead in its tie with Norway as the nation moves one step closer to topping Group E.

Felix Auger-Aliassime has come out on fire to start this second set and has an early 3-0 lead after breaking Alexei Popyrin.

“It’s the kind of response we expected from the Canadian. Just another test here for Alexei Popyrin,” says Tom Rehn on Nine’s coverage.

To make matters worse for the Aussie, he looks to be labouring a little bit and had the doctor visit him in between games.

He’s going to continue for the time being.

The looks on Italy’s bench say it all – after a lengthy battle, this is going to be a close finish in Brisbane.

Martina Trevisan holds serve to lead 5-4 in the third set, forcing Malene Helgo to win her service game to continue the match.

With the contest nearing three hours in duration, the tension in the air at the break could be cut with a knife.

Alexei Popyrin has taken a major step towards a shock upset win over Felix Auger-Aliassime by taking the opening set 6-4.

Auger-Alisassime is the No.2 seed at the Adelaide International this year and is currently ranked No.6 on the ATP singles rankings.

This is the first meeting between the Aussie, ranked No.120 in the world, and Auger-Aliassime.

What a scalp it would be for the 23-year-old.

Aussie Alex de Minaur has kick-started his preparations for his much-anticpated match tonight against Rafael Nadal.

De Minaur was spotted in the gym chatting to Brit Cameron Norrie ahead of his tie against the world No.2 at Ken Rosewall Arena.

Australia will clash with Spain tonight with the team in action from 7pm.

Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck snared a late break to win the opening set in her tie against Greece’s Despina Papamichail at RAC Arena.

The pair have been difficult to separate, but Van Uytvanck controlled the later stages of the set to win 7-5 in just over in hour.

Meanwhile in Brisbane, Malene Helgo has forced match tie with Italy’s Martina Trevisan to a deciding third set after claiming the second set 6-3.

Helgo came out swinging after dropping the first set but was soon reeled in by Trevisan. However, the Norwegian ultimately persisted to keep the contest alive.

Novak Djokovic’s return to Australian tennis wasn’t a victorious one, as he and Vasek Pospisil went down in a super tiebreaker to the team of Tomislav Brkic and Gonzalo Escobar.

Djokovic and Pospisil won the first 6-4, but after going down 3-6 in the second were well beaten in the decider, 5-10.

It’s obviously not any sort of disaster for Djokovic who has far bigger things to worry about in the next few weeks, but he surely would have liked to mark his return to the country where he’s been so successful with a win.
