Currently No. 78 following repeated physical problems including a wrist problem, the 20-year-old is set to begin the 2023 season in Auckland.

She’s only been back on court for a little while, returning at the Abu Dhabi exhibition during the offseason.

“I didn’t play any tennis for two and a half, three months. I did lots of fitness,” she said. “I’ve just started getting back into tennis ten days, two weeks.”

Raducanu is starting the season with new coach Sebastian Sachs, and recently added fitness trainer Jez Green in a bid to reduce injuries next season.

“I’m feeling good. It’s been a bit stop-start,” she said, reiterating that she is concentrating on her conditioning. “I feel like I’m setting up a good system right now.”

She’s also getting used to her status and the scrutiny that comes with it.

”If there’s something worth talking about they’ll talk, if you’re not worth talking about, then they won’t talk about you,” she said.

Raducanu is next scheduled to play the Australian Open.
